Your itinerary

  • Welcome to Senegal!

    On arrival at Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport, you'll be greeted by a Siramada Tour member. 

    You will then be transferred to the hotel The Lagon 2, where you can relax. 

    Depending on your arrival time, you'll join us for a welcome lunch or dinner, during which we'll get to know each other and review the program and itinerary.

  • Following breakfast, depart for Dakar's port and take a ferry to Gorée Island. Immerse yourself in the island's history with a visit to the House of Slaves and its powerful exhibition. Enjoy some free time for lunch with breathtaking views before returning to Dakar.

    In the afternoon, embark on a guided tour of the city, exploring the Independence Square, historic buildings,, the Presidential Palace and much more.

    In the evening, unwind at Salim's camp in Niaga with a delicious dinner and a relaxing evening.

  • Start your day with a delicious breakfast at Salim's camp. Embark on a journey to Lac Rose (Lake Retba), where your guide will provide insights into the fascinating phenomenon of its color-changing waters, influenced by the 2022 floods.

    Experience the grandeur of the Dunes of the Paris-Dakar Rally.

    Continue your journey to Saint-Louis, stopping for a free time for lunch at the charming Café Rail in Thiès.

    In the evening, arrive in Saint-Louis, check in to the Hotel Diamarek or similar, and enjoy a relaxing evening.

  • Start the day with a delicious breakfast, then embark on a tour of the Djoudj National Park. This park, founded in 1971, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the third largest ornithological park in the world, covering 12,000 hectares in the Senegal River Delta.

    Note: Djoudj National Park is closed from May to October. This tour will be substituted by the Langue de Barbarie National Park during this season.

    Enjoy some free time for lunch, then join us for an afternoon horse-drawn carriage ride through the historic center of Saint-Louis. You'll explore the Faidherbe bridge, visit the Mermoz museum, discover the fishermen's quarter, admire the colonial houses with their red roofs, and visit the new photography gallery.

    The day will end with dinner and an overnight stay at the Hotel Diamarek.

  • In the morning, a delicious breakfast will be served, followed by departure for the Langue de Barbarie National Park (Unesco World Heritage Site), created in 1976 and stretching for some fifteen kilometers.

    Enjoy a tour of the park by pirogue, with a detour to the fragile 2,000-hectare ornithological reserve.

    Take a lunch break at your own pace in a nearby restaurant.

    In the afternoon, depart for the Loumpoul desert aboard a 4X4 for a unique desert experience.

    Get settled at the Lompoul Ecolodge, a lodge in the heart of the desert where you can enjoy a camel ride.

    Enjoy the end of the day with a delicious dinner and an exciting night rhythmed to the sound of djembes.

  • A hearty breakfast will be served at Loumpoul Lodge, before departing for the holy city of Touba, known as the holy city of Senegal's largest Muslim brotherhood, Mouridism, and the burial place of its founder, Shaikh Ahmadou Bàmba Mbàcke.

    Visit to the Great Marble Mosque with its large minaret. Explanation of the history of Mouridism.

    Departure for Kaolack, located on the Saloum River and known as Senegal's main groundnut trading and processing center. Free time for lunch at the Relais de Kaolack on the banks of the Saloum.

    At the end of the day, you'll be invited to take a pirogue ride on the river to Marlodge Island, before arriving at the Simal Ecolodge for dinner.

  • Start your day with a delicious breakfast, before leaving for a hike to the island of clam shells in Joal-Fadiouth also known for its mixed cemetery (Christian and Muslim).

    Free time for lunch and departure for Mbour.

    In the evening, enjoy a walk around the fishing port of Mbour to observe the arrival of the fishermen.

    Finish the day at the Royam Hotel in Saly, before enjoying dinner and a relaxing evening.

  • On this last day, enjoy a hearty breakfast, before departing for the 1000-hectare Bandia Reserve in the heart of the baobab forest to observe the diversity of wildlife, including a variety of mammals and birds.

    You could also visit the Somone Lagoon during your lunch break if time allows.

    In the evening, take some free time to prepare your belongings, then depart for Blaise Diagne airport.

How to book your tour?

Book your trip with a deposit of $500 CAD (25% of the total amount).

This deposit is non-refundable.

The remaining amount of $1500 CAD must be received no later than 30 days before departure or on the date indicated on your invoice, depending on the trip chosen.

About Senegal

The Republic of Senegal is a country located in the westernmost part of sub-Saharan Africa. With a surface area of 196,722 km², it is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Mauritania to the north, Mali to the east and Guinea to the south.

In 2021, the total population was around 16.7 million, of which 40% is mainly concentrated in rural areas and Dakar Region (23%).

Finally, the country's tropical climate is characterized by two seasons: the dry season from October to June, and the rainy season (wintering) from July to September.

Meals

The meals offered during your tour are half-board (breakfast and dinner) except breakfast on day 1 and dinner on day 8.

Lunch is at your own discretion and expense. Picnics can be arranged when no restaurant is available nearby.

  • Departures are guaranteed from 10 participants. Maximum 15 participants.

  • Multilingual guide: (English, French and Spanish) who will explain the tour on the day before departure.

  • Air-conditioned vehicles adapted to the number of participants.

  • Accommodations: on this tour, you can choose from a range of simple accommodation options, depending on the location: 3-star and 4-star hotels, lodges and camps.

  • Some itineraries may be subject to change depending on the time of year.

  • Local currency: CFA Franc - We recommend exchanging funds the day before departure, if possible on arrival at the airport. ATMs are available in major cities (Dakar, Mbour, Saint-Louis, Kaolack).

  • Tips and gratuities: Tips are not mandatory. If you are satisfied with the service you can leave a tip for the guide and driver at your own discretion. Allow around 4 euros or 4 Canadian dollars per person per day.

Custom requirements

Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your return date.

If you are traveling with minors, please make sure you have parental permission and/or permission to leave the country.

Visas

As of May 1, 2015, French and Belgian citizens can enter Senegal without a visa.

For Canada, Canadians can enter Senegal without a visa if their stay does not exceed 90 days.

Vaccinations

If you're visiting an African country, a Yellow Fever vaccine is mandatory. A proof of vaccination is required. We recommend to check with the relevant authorities and consult your family doctor, a travel clinic or a Yellow Fever Vaccination Center before you leave.
